                                                  VANDA (VNDA). MEDAREX (MEDX)

These Two Firms are the Stars of Today’s News. Both Have Good News and

the Good News They Have is Expected to

Boost their future values.

MEDAREX (MEDX) announced that the FDA has granted Fast Track designation for ipilimumab (also known as MDX- 010) used in combination with chemotherapy (dacarbazine) in previously untreated (first-line) metastatic melanoma patients. The FDA also has granted Fast Track designation for ipilimumab used as a monotherapy in previously treated (second-line) metastatic melanoma patients.

Prohost Comments: This is what we call good news that adds to previous good news, making it better and more convincing news. We love to hear good news about Ipilimumab because this monoclonal antibody therapeutic is developed to suppress a molecule on T cells, which prevents the immune system from fighting cancers. The important target on the T cells is called CTLA- 4. Approval of Medarex’ drug ipilimumab would open the door for this product to treat a variety of cancers, not only one.

VANDA (VNDA): The good news for this firm comes from a late Phase clinical trials, where the firm’s compound iloperidone has demonstrated statistically significant improvement in the positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia compared to placebo. The good results bring Vanda closer to filing a New Drug Application with the FDA, probably, in late 2007. Iloperidone, is a new antipsychotic compound and was tested in two doses in a four-week trial with 604 patients with both symptoms of schizophrenia. Positive symptoms of schizophrenia include hallucinations, delusions, racing thoughts and other psychotic symptoms, while negative symptoms include moodiness, anhedonia (inability to feel pleasure), loss of interest, eating and sleep disturbances, and difficulty concentrating.

Prohost Comments: Without comments, the results of trials speak by themselves. They are positive and are promising for the firm and its shareholders.
